The man suspected of murdering his wife in Limerick last week has been found dead.

Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa was found unresponsive at an apartment in the Carlton House complex in the city last week.

The 33-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, and a murder investigation was launched by An Garda Síochána.

A manhunt was launched in order to locate Jady’s husband Judismar Weslei Batista.

Batista has since been found deceased near Blackrock Castle in Cork.

A statement from An Garda Síochána confirmed that a person of interest in the murder investigation had been found deceased.

They said: ‘A male (aged in his 30s) who was a person of interest and a line of enquiry in this investigation, has been found deceased.

‘An Garda Síochána continue to investigate the murder of the woman to determine all of the circumstances of her death. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to led the investigation.’

Ms Rosa was originally from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. She had been working as a cleaner in Limerick, with tributes pouring in following her death.

On Monday, a GoFundMe launched for the funeral costs of Ms Rosa exceeded €25,000.

The fundraiser was launched by Lucas Alves, who detailed what the funds would be used for.

Mr Alves said: ‘Today we come together for a reason that no one would want to face.

‘Our beloved Jady, a Brazilian woman living in Limerick, Ireland, had her life tragically cut short. In this time of profound grief, we want to help her family so that she can receive a dignified farewell in her home country, surrounded by those who love her.’

Mr Alves explained that Ms Rosa’s employer would cover the cost of transporting her body from Ireland to Brazil, but added that there were ‘still significant expenses to be incurred.’

The fundraiser would help with transporting the body of Ms Rosa from the airport to the burial site, as well as the cost of the wake and funeral.

‘Any contribution, regardless of the amount, will make a difference and will be a gesture of affection and solidarity with the family during this very difficult time,’ he added.

At the time of writing, the fundraiser had been paused with €25,243 raised.
