A man is currently being treated in hospital for smoke inhalation after making a ‘lucky escape’ from a petrol bomb incident.
It is understood that the explosive was thrown into a home in the Drimnagh area of Dublin this morning.
Gardaí are now probing the incident, attempting to identify a motive and potential suspect behind the brazen attack.

Emergency services raced to the scene in the early hours of this morning, transporting one man believed to be in his 20s to St James’s Hospital.
A Garda spokesperson said: ‘Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred at a residence in Drimnagh, Dublin 12, in the early hours of Wednesday 7th October 2026.
‘A male (aged in his 20s) was conveyed to St James’s Hospital as a precaution. Investigations ongoing.’ Garda forensic experts are understood to have examined the scene early this morning.

Speaking on the incident, one source told the Irish Sun: ‘The man who was in the house isn’t involved in any feud, and he has had a lucky escape.
‘A lot of damage was caused to the front of the property, and it could have been a lot worse. It’s just the latest in a series of violent and reckless incidents in recent days.’
Gardaí reportedly believe the incident is linked to an ongoing feud between two local drug gangs operating in the Bluebell, Inchicore and Ballyfermot areas of Dublin.
The area has seen a series of violent incidents in recent weeks, including two attempted hits, shots fired at homes, a car ramming and petrol bombings.
Local Sinn Féin councillor Daithi Doolan has since condemned the incident, telling the Sun it was ‘out of control’.
‘The situation is clearly out of control. Those involved need to pull back and stop these terrible attacks.
‘This violence is putting lives at serious risk. The attacks are holding the whole community to ransom. We can not let them win.’
