A man has been arrested after Gardaí responded to a reported firearm incident in Waterford this afternoon.

Gardaí say they received a report of an alleged firearm incident on Paddy Brown Road in the Lisduggan area shortly after lunchtime today.

Officers attended the scene and arrested a man aged in his 50s.

An imitation firearm was seized during the incident.

The man is currently being detained at a Garda station in Co. Waterford under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí say investigations into the incident are ongoing.
