A small local coffee nook has issued a desperate plea for information on social media after it was robbed.

The small Waterford business claimed on its Instagram page that a cash box, soft drinks, chocolate and marshmallows were all taken from the premises.

It then asked that anyone who has information on the robbery contact them or An Garda Síochána.

Turning to Facebook and Instagram, Ballmacarbry Coffee Nook told the public: ‘We’ve been robbed’.

The post continued: ‘Ballymacarbry, we need your help. The cash box, chocolate, soft drinks and marshmallows were stolen.

It later asked that anyone who may have information regarding the incident or even saw suspicious activity around the coffee nook contact them.

‘Did you see anything suspicious last night? Please message us privately with any information,’ they asked.

Ballmacarbry Coffee Nook ended the post with a message to the alleged thief, pleading with them to return the stolen goods.

‘To whoever took our things … we’d love to see them returned. You know where to find us!’ the post read.

The image was later reposted to a local Facebook group where a user said: ‘If anyone has any info, please contact Garda or Coffee Nook.’

The incident has evidently sparked outrage in the local community, with the social media post netting 177 impressions and over 30 comments.

‘Disgusting behaviour. Shame on those who did this and equally so on anyone who knows who did this and are remaining quiet,’ one person commented.

Another said: ‘Yes, that’s terrible, also disrespecting people who are trying to make a business and diaspointing, for the owners, in a small little village someone knows something about this theft.’

Meanwhile a third joined in: Aw no, he’s [the owner] such a good hardworking lad too. I’m so sorry this happened.’

Fine Gael councillor Niamh O’Donovan also shared her support for the small business, writing: ‘This is awful to read about and experience. So sorry to hear. I hope they can catch them. May they have no luck.’
