Waterford’s Lit Festival returns this weekend with a programme of reading, writing and creative events across the city.
Running from October 9th to the 11th, the festival is organised by Waterford Youth Arts and is created by young people for young people.
A team of 28 co-organisers aged between 14 and 19 has helped shape this year’s programme.
Events will take place across St Patrick’s Gateway Centre, The Book Centre, Waterford Libraries, Little Lane Bookshop and Dubray Books.
The programme includes poetry workshops, open discussions, live music, a Dungeons & Dragons event and activities for younger participants.
Highlights include Mythmaking in Modern Ireland with writers Ruth Ennis and Ellen Ryan at The Book Centre on Saturday, while the festival will close with a StorySlam at The Book Centre on Sunday.
Opening night will feature Mikey Cullen at St Patrick’s Gateway Centre, while other events across the weekend include Teenage Kicks x The Spark, Sounds & Stories and a Children’s Books Ireland book clinic.
Most events are free, with organisers aiming to keep the festival accessible to young people across the city.
The full programme and booking information are available through The Lit website.
