There was great news for Waterford at the Special Olympics Ireland Games in Dublin as James Lannigan won gold after an outstanding performance in his competition.
James claimed first place after winning all of his matches, earning a well-deserved gold medal.
The achievement came as 62 athletes from Waterford travelled to Dublin for the Special Olympics Ireland Games, making it the largest county contingent taking part this year.

More than 1,200 athletes from across the country competed in 12 different sports at the Games.
James is well known throughout the local community, not only for his sporting achievements but also for the time he gives to others. He regularly volunteers at local sporting events and charity fundraisers, where he is always willing to lend a helping hand.
His gold medal success was warmly welcomed by those who know him, with many describing it as a fitting reward for his dedication, commitment and positive attitude.
Congratulations to James on a fantastic achievement and for representing Waterford with pride on the national stage.
