Summer weather is set to return this weekend, after weeks of showery spells, with temperatures set to reach above 20 in parts of the country.
After enjoying a spectacular spell of weather at the start of June, recent conditions have been more gloomy, with grey skies and inconsistent shower spells throughout the day and overnight.
However, warm weather is set to return over the weekend, with meteorologist Alan O’Reilly saying that ‘warmest temperatures next two days will be in South and best of sunshine also. Many areas will see good hazy sunshine Saturday but more cloud in Northern areas.’

Met Éireann added to that by giving their forecast for the weekend.
They said that for Saturday it ‘will be dry for most with plenty of hazy sunshine around. A few light showers will occasionally fall over northern counties. Highest temperatures of 14 to 22 degrees, warmest in the south and east, in light to moderate northwest breezes.’
It’s set to continue into Saturday night, with it forecasted to remain ‘mostly dry with clear spells and high cloud. Coastal and hill fog will form, mostly in the south. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees in light northerly or variable breezes.’
The best of the weather across the country will be on Sunday, particularly in the west, as despite a ‘cloudy to start on Sunday morning with isolated showers over Ulster, conditions will improve throughout the day with hazy sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees, mildest in the west with light to moderate east to southeast winds.

‘While Sunday night will start off clear for most, cloud will start to increase from the southwest towards morning, bringing patchy outbreaks of light rain, drizzle and mist. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees, in light to moderate east to southeast winds.’
Then, as we roll into Monday, rain is set to return, as ‘patchy rain, drizzle, mist will spread from the southwest through the morning, developing into showery outbreaks as it clears northeastwards.
‘The occasional sunny spell will also develop as the day goes on. Rather humid with highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees generally, in no more than moderate southerly breezes.’
