Human faeces left on children’s playground slide in Portlaw

A Waterford councillor has described an incident at a children’s playground in Portlaw as ‘absolutely disgusting’ after human faeces were deliberately left on a slide.
Cllr. Declan Clune says one child came into contact with the faeces before it was discovered and removed from the playground in Portlaw Park.
In a statement, Cllr. Clune said the public amenity is used by many local families and described the incident as ‘mindless, disgusting behaviour’ that has no place in the community.
He also thanked two local women who cleaned, bleached and disinfected the slide to ensure it was safe for children to use again.
Gardaí have been notified of the incident, and Cllr. Clune is appealing to residents living along Connolly Road and nearby to check any CCTV or doorbell camera footage that may have captured activity around the playground.
Anyone with information that could assist Gardaí is being asked to contact An Garda Síochána.
