Social media users have been left horrified after a ‘bed share’ advertisement was shared online this week.

The accommodation crisis is as bad as ever. Postings of expensive digs for weekday occupancy online are a testament to this — as are ‘bed share’ postings.

This week, a Reddit user came across a room posting in their neighbourhood group.

The room was located in Lucan, near Liffey Valley and was available for one female, who would be sharing with another guest.

The landlord outlined that the move in date was for December 1, however, an earlier move-in of November 1 could be facilitated.

‘Room type: sharing room with king size bed, private bathroom,’ they outlined.

This did not include bills. An additional €650 deposit was requested by the landlord.

A screenshot of the posting was shared to the r/ireland subreddit, with the poster writing: ‘Is this so bad now? Bed sharing with a random person for €650? Saw it in my neighbourhood group.’

Fellow Reddit users took to the comments to express their disgust at the room posting.

‘Bed sharing with strangers is horrific and at this price,’ one wrote. ‘This government and these landlords ought to be ashamed of themselves.’

Another said: ‘I thought that weekdays-only rentals was bad enough but this is next level.’

A third said: ‘Bed sharing with a complete stranger is horrific at any price… like if you think of even in the worst hostels at least you have your own bed in a huge shared room…’

A fourth person commented: ‘Don’t know how someone posts this seriously and can live with themselves. Human dignity is in the bin.’
