Gardaí have released an image of a car they are seeking in connection with a fatal road traffic collision on the Clare-Limerick border.

16-year-old Bryan Lowe died after he was found unresponsive by the roadside in Cloonlara shortly after 11pm on Friday, September 4.

The e-bike rider was found on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Cloonlara and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene.

Gardaí are now appealing directly to the driver or occupants of a silver/gold-coloured Skoda Octavia, registration number 05-C-5982, who may have been in the Cloonlara/Castleconnell area during the relevant period.

They are asking anyone who was driving in the area between 6pm on Friday, September 4 and 11am on Saturday, September 5 to come forward if they have any information that could assist the investigation.

Road users who were in the Cloonlara or Castleconnell area at the time are also being urged to check any available camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, and make anything potentially relevant available to investigating Gardaí.

The fatal incident has caused widespread shock in the local community, with tributes paid to the teenage victim by family, friends and his school.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and are particularly interested in tracing the vehicle pictured.
