Gardaí have issued an appeal following the death of a young mother of two after last week’s rickshaw crash in Dublin.
Danielle O’Keane suffered a ‘life-ending brain injury’ in the horrific crash, which occurred on North Wall Quay at around 11pm last Saturday after a Westlife concert.
The Newry native was heading to Dublin city centre with her friends after the 3Arena show when the rickshaw they were travelling in hit a curb.

While no other injuries were reported, Danielle was rushed to Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and was put on a ventilator in the ICU.
The 37-year-old sadly passed away from the serious injuries on Thursday, October 1.
Gardaí have since issued an appeal for any witnesses of the incident to come forward.

They stated: ‘Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the vicinity of North Wall Quay on Saturday, September 26, 2026 between 10.30pm and 11.15pm, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
‘Anyone with information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.’
Heartbreaking tributes for Danielle have been pouring in since her death, with the young woman remembered as ‘the most beautiful girl and devoted mum’.

One person shared: ‘Danielle was one of the friendliest and kindest people. It was a pleasure working with you all those years ago. Thinking of your whole family at this extremely difficult time. Rest in Peace Danielle.’
Another shared: ‘The saddest possible outcome for this brilliant girl I am honoured to have known and worked with. Strength and love to Dave, her wee babies and entire family circle at this incredibly hard unimaginable time.’
It is understood that Danielle was tragically struck by a car as she fell out of the rickshaw, with her sister-in-law, Aisling, saying that the night was ‘supposed to be joyous’.

She told Newstalk: ‘They had a great time at the gig, and afterwards, you know what it’s like getting out of the 3Arena, it’s a bit chaotic.
‘The rickshaw [drivers] can be quite excited to get you on board, so the three girls decided to get on board one to get into the city centre and meet Danielle’s husband, as well as the other three girls’ partners and husbands.
‘It’s like Final Destination. As soon as the wheel clipped the divider, as soon as the rickshaw tipped over on its side, the car came.’
