Funeral arrangements for Thomasina Tobin and her husband, Patrick Tobin, have been announced after the couple were found dead in a hot tub in a Spanish villa.
The couple will be reposed at Ward’s Funeral Home in Ballybay, Co. Monaghan on Thursday, September 17th. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday morning at 11 am at Our Lady of Knock Church in Ballintra.
The couple will then be brought for a strictly private cremation service.
It is understood that Thomasina and Patrick were found dead in an outdoor villa jacuzzi by their two teenage children.
Thomasina was from Castleblayney in Co Monaghan, and she had been living in London for the past 20 years. The couple’s death notice notes that Patrick was originally from Wellington, New Zealand.
It described the couple as ‘much loved parents of Rhea and Séamus’ and ‘will be deeply missed by their children, their families, relatives and many friends’.
‘Thomasina and Paddy shared a life filled with love, family and friendship. Their sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved them,’ their death notice continues.
Tributes have now poured in for the couple, with mourners also posting messages of support to the couple’s teenage children.
‘With love and sympathy to all affected by this terrible loss. May you all, but particularly Rhea and Séamus, remember Thomasina and Paddy’s love. I spent time with Thomasina as a school governor and on the Tombola stall at many school fairs. She had an unwavering integrity along with a sense of fun,’ one tribute read.
Another person said: ‘My deepest sympathies to Duana and to all the family. Our thoughts have been with your family since we heard the terrible news about Thomasina and Patrick. May you find strength and comfort in the days and months ahead.’
‘Heartfelt condolences to John and the McArdle and Tobin families on the very sad and tragic passing of Thomasina and Patrick. My thoughts and prayers are with their children Rhea and Séamus at this very difficult time,’ a third tribute read.
