A former Waterford school principal and priest has been found guilty of sexual assault.

90-year-old Con Desmond was convicted at Waterford Courthouse yesterday in relation to offences dating back around four decades.

The former teacher served as principal of St. Stephen’s Primary School in Waterford City between 1977 and 1984, before later becoming a priest.

The latest case, involving one man, follows previous cases in which Desmond was also found guilty of sexual offences.

He’s due to be sentenced later this morning.
