Ferrybank Camogie Club is set to host a special memorial blitz next month in honour of Aoife Bird (née Oates) and her baby daughter Ailbhe.

The Festival of Camogie and Memorial Blitz will take place on Saturday, July 11th and will bring together young players from clubs across Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford and Meath. Teams from under-eight to under-14 level are expected to take part in a day celebrating camogie, friendship and community spirit.

The event is being held in memory of Aoife, who passed away following a sudden illness in November 2024, just one day after the death of her baby daughter Ailbhe. Organisers say the day will provide an opportunity for players, families and supporters to come together to remember them while celebrating community spirit and the sport they loved.

A donation from the event will be made to Féileacáin, the organisation which supports families affected by the loss of a baby. Ferrybank Camogie Club says the charity was chosen in recognition of the care and support it provides to families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Funds raised on the day will also support the continued growth and development of Ferrybank Camogie Club.

Donations can be made through the event’s GoFundMe page or via the QR code provided by organisers.
