Three Family Resource Centres in Waterford are to receive a combined €30,000 under a new Government capital fund.

Ballybeg Community Development Project, Sacred Heart Community and Childcare Project on the Old Tramore Road and St. Brigid’s Family and Community Care on Lower Yellow Road will each receive €10,000.

The funding can be used by the centres for a range of improvements, including minor building and refurbishment works, accessibility measures, furniture and equipment, technology and energy-efficiency upgrades.

Centres will have flexibility to determine where the once-off funding is most needed locally.

The money cannot be used to cover staffing costs and must be spent before the end of 2026.

The Waterford allocations form part of a €1.36 million nationwide investment in Ireland’s network of Family Resource Centres.

A total of 136 centres across the country will each receive a €10,000 grant under the 2026 Family Resource Centre Capital Fund.

Family Resource Centres provide a range of services in their communities, including family support, counselling, education and training, advocacy and youth and community groups.

Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley said the funding will allow individual centres to identify the investments that will make the greatest difference in their communities.

The Family Resource Centre Programme is administered by Tusla on behalf of the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.
