Female entrepreneurs in rural parts of Waterford are being encouraged to apply for the latest cycle of a business development programme.
ACORNS supports women in the early stages of starting a business, with up to 50 places available nationally for its latest programme.
Cappoquin-based entrepreneur Judit McNally, who runs handcrafted chocolate business Cocoa by Judit, recently completed the programme and is encouraging others to apply.
Ms. McNally launched her business in late 2023 and has since won gold at the Blas na hÉireann Food Awards, while recently securing an opportunity to supply Faithlegg Hotel.
She said ACORNS helped her to set goals and remain accountable while developing her business.
‘The experience was absolutely amazing. All the women in the group were very driven, and our Lead Entrepreneur was extremely inspiring.’
Lynn Shead, who runs Natures Alchemy outside Tallow, is another previous Waterford participant and has also encouraged local entrepreneurs to apply.

ACORNS is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and is free for those selected.
The programme runs from October until April, with applications closing at midnight on September 18th.
