€2 million in funding has been secured for the replacement of the sea wall along Clonea Road in Dungarvan.
The funding has been confirmed under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme.
The proposed works will improve the structural condition of the existing flood wall and reduce the risk of waves overtopping it during extreme tidal conditions.
The wall has been vulnerable to flooding in recent years, with the project expected to benefit residents in Sallybrook and Sea Park, as well as those using the busy Clonea Road route.
Waterford City and County Council will begin the tender process for the works in the coming weeks.
The funding was confirmed by Minister of State for Planning and Local Government John Cummins TD, following engagement with the Department and the Office of Public Works.
