Flahavan’s has welcomed EU organic ambassadors from across Europe to its mill in Kilmac Thomas, where they viewed new organic oat storage infrastructure following a €1.8 million investment by the company.

The investment includes eight new silos, each with a capacity of 850 tonnes, providing an additional 6,800 tonnes of storage at the facility.

The project received support through the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, as well as Enterprise Ireland.

Organic oats now account for approximately half of all oats milled by Flavins.

The company says the additional storage capacity will support the continued growth of its organic business, both in Ireland and across its international markets.

The new infrastructure was showcased during a visit by EU organic ambassadors from across Europe to the Kilmacthomas facility.
