A decision is due next Tuesday on a major housing and mixed-use development proposed for Davitts Quay and TF Meagher Street in Dungarvan.

O’Brien Family Partnership has applied for permission to demolish the existing buildings on the site and carry out a full site clearance before constructing a six-storey mixed-use development.

The site once contained Murphy’s Bar & Restaurant and Waves Nightclub.

The proposed development would provide 37 apartments, with three apartments at ground-floor level and a further 34 apartments spread across the first to fifth floors.

Commercial space is also included in the plans, with a commercial unit proposed across the ground and first floors.

The ground floor would also accommodate plant areas, bicycle and bin storage, service areas and lobby spaces, while the upper floors would include ancillary circulation, storage, service and lobby areas.

A communal roof garden is proposed at fourth-floor level, with hard and soft landscaping forming part of the plans.

The application also includes new signage and lighting, connections to the public water and wastewater networks, and all associated site development works.

The proposal would represent a significant redevelopment of a prominent site close to Dungarvan town centre.

A decision from the Waterford City and County Council is due on Tuesday, September 8th.
