Daniel Kinahan appears to have found God ahead of his extradition to Ireland.

An Irish Government jet is currently flying to Dublin from Dubai amid the extradition of alleged gangland figure Daniel Kinahan.

It comes after the arrest in April in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of the Dublin boxing promoter who is an alleged leader of the Kinahan organised crime group.

Kinahan, in his late 40s, was detained on foot of an arrest warrant issued by the Irish courts in relation to alleged serious organised crime offences.

The Irish Government jet took off from Casement aerodrome in Baldonnel on the outskirts of Dublin on Saturday morning, touching down in Dubai that night.

It left the UAE just after 10am on Sunday.

Speaking via a voice note to podcaster James English, Kinahan detailed the ‘little box’ he was being held in and said that the ‘security is going to be crazy’ for his journey home.

He then suggested that he had found God as he reflected on the situation he now finds himself in.

‘I’m thinking, what happened, how I got here, all the stuff that’s happening in my life,’ he said. ‘And when you look at things you know, everything is in God’s hands. Everything happens the way it’s supposed to happen you know?’

He then said that he is ‘looking forward to getting home’ and that he was ‘always proud to be Irish.’

Kinahan is expected to appear before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin on Sunday evening where he will face a charge of directing an organised crime group.
