Gardaí are investigating after three Irish Rail carriages were damaged at Plunkett Station in Waterford.

Multiple graffiti tags were sprayed onto the carriages between 11pm on Saturday, August 15th and 4am on Sunday, August 16th.

The damage is estimated to be worth €45,000.

Gardaí say the affected carriages have been taken out of service while the graffiti is removed, which can result in disruption to rail services.

Waterford Crime Unit is investigating the incident and is appealing for anyone who may be able to assist with enquiries to come forward.
