Waterford-based company Clem Jacob Hire has won a prestigious international sustainability award, marking another major milestone as the family-owned business celebrates 20 years in operation.
The company was named winner of the Sustainability Award at the 2026 International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs), held in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday evening, October 15th.
The award recognises the company’s efforts to reduce its environmental impact across its equipment rental and training operations.
Founded in Waterford in May 2006, Clem Jacob Hire has grown into one of the South East’s leading providers of plant, machinery, access equipment and event hire services.

The company has invested significantly in renewable energy, including the development of a fully off-grid training centre powered by solar panels and battery storage.
It has also expanded its fleet of electric equipment and battery-powered generators, offering customers more environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional diesel machinery.
Clem Jacob Hire was shortlisted alongside three major international companies, Dingli, Haulotte and Johnson Arabia, before securing the award.
The company is also well known for its involvement in the Waterford community, supporting a number of major local events over the years.
Among them is the annual Spraoi International Street Arts Festival, where Clem Jacob Hire has provided sponsorship, equipment and technical support for the popular Spraoi Parade.
The business has also supported the Waterford Viking Marathon, further demonstrating its commitment to community events across the city.
Based at Six Cross Roads Business Park, the award represents a significant achievement for the Waterford company, which is celebrating two decades in business this year.
