A Boil Water Notice has been issued for customers supplied by the Ballydasoon Water Supply Scheme.

Uisce Éireann says around 65 customers in Ballydasoon and surrounding areas are affected and must boil their water before drinking it, preparing food or brushing their teeth until further notice.

The notice was introduced after increased turbidity affected the treatment process at the water treatment plant in Youghal following a deterioration in raw water quality.

The Youghal supply supplements the Ballydasoon Water Supply Scheme.

Customers are being advised to bring water to a vigorous rolling boil and allow it to cool before use.

Tap water can still be used for washing, bathing and flushing toilets, but should not be used for brushing teeth.

Maura Phelan of Uisce Éireann said teams are working to restore normal water quality as quickly as possible.

‘We know how important a safe and reliable water supply is to everyday life and we understand the inconvenience this notice will cause.’

Customers can check whether their property is affected through the Water Quality section of water.ie using their Eircode, or contact Uisce Éireann on 1800 278 278.
