A weather expert has pinpointed the best day of the week, as he warned fresher conditions might mean the need for a jacket.
Conditions have been pretty changeable in recent weeks, with a widespread mix of rain, showers and sunny spells.
Following on from heatwaves in June and July, it doesn’t appear we’ll have a return of consistent 25C heat anytime soon.
Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly warned of further changeable conditions over the coming days.
Taking to X, the weather expert said: ‘Probably the best of the sunny spells will be on Friday, but not too much rain in terms of rainfall apart from the northwest.’
That said, there will still be rainfall, of which there is uncertainty over how much will hit on Saturday.
‘Sunday is looking a better day, at the moment, with sunny spells and maybe the odd shower,’ Alan added.
The Carlow man concluded, noting that conditions are ‘fresher’ on Wednesday, so a jacket may be needed when heading out and about.
Similarly, Met Éireann are forecasting a mix of showers and drier spells with the occasional break of sunshine for the remainder of the week.

The national forecaster noted: ‘It will be fresher at times, especially for those near the coasts.’
Looking towards next week, the Extended Range Forecast notes that conditions are expected to be drier than usual with high pressure building over the country.
As for temperatures, they are predicted to be a degree or two warmer than normal.
The following week, similarly, is looking to be warmer than usual, with rainfall in Dublin standard for the time of year.
By Monday, August 24, Met Éireann admit low confidence in the weather conditions, with temperatures returning to typical for the time of year in Connacht and Ulster, and slightly above in Leinster and Munster.
