Applications are now open for Waterford City and County Council’s 2027 Gaeltacht Scholarship Scheme.

The scheme is open to second-level students living in Waterford City or County and will support attendance at a two-week Irish-language summer course in Coláiste na Rinne in west Waterford.

One full scholarship, or two half scholarships, will be awarded for summer 2027.

Waterford City and County Council says the initiative gives students the chance to improve their Irish while experiencing the language and culture of the Gaeltacht.

Máire Seó Breathnach, Irish Officer with the council, said the courses provide students with “a wonderful opportunity” to learn Irish in a welcoming environment.

She added that students will also get the chance to experience the cultural heritage of the Irish language while staying in An Rinn.

Application forms and full terms and conditions are available through Coláiste na Rinne.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, November 20th.
