If you’ve not been hooked by Kevin Bacon’s missing parcel drama over the weekend, then why not?
The Footloose superstar is currently filming in Ireland and understandably wants the comforting familiarity of his own things while he’s here, including some of his favourite clothes from the 90s.
He decided to ship them to Ireland, but then disaster struck, with the box going missing, so he issued a call-out for help, and the Irish people really rallied around him.

After detours to countries including France, Germany, and Israel, Kevin decided to speak out about his postage woes after waiting almost a month for delivery… and now there’s a positive update.
Kevin’s clothes have reached our shores, and even better, he’s filmed an unboxing of what’s inside the parcel that had us all talking.
‘My clothes have arrived. Thanks for all the sweet comments, and especially to the good people of Ireland who stopped me on the street (and in the sauna) to wish my box a safe return. Well, here’s my first ever unboxing of the box that’s traveled the world,’ Kevin said in the caption to his clip.

In the video, Kevin joked that ‘this is old crap I’ve had around for years,’ but we’re impressed by how well much of it has held up; they really don’t make clothes like they used to.
During the unboxing, he lifted out a leather jacket, saying, ‘truth is it’s too cold to wear that’, jeans from the 90s, a couple of belts, a swimsuit, and a coat that has a hole in it.
Other items included gloves, boots that Kevin would have been really ‘sad to lose’ as he’s ‘definitely had these since 2000s’, another jacket he’s ‘had for about a thousand years’ and a scarf.
While some of the clothes fell victim to an open protein packet in the parcel, Kevin – and the Irish people – were delighted to see the box had arrived.

‘Ahhh St. Anthony pulled through again… best unboxing ever,’ wrote one person, and another said: ‘This has been the best saga to watch! Thank you for inadvertently helping distract everyone from the ever-growing horrors of the world. You are Saint Bacon.’
A third added: ‘I was never this happy to know that a box of clothes that are not even mine arrived safely! I was so invested in this.’
Sharing his shipping troubles last week, Kevin explained: ‘I’m working here in Ireland. I wanted to pack light, so I decided to ship some old clothes over here to Ireland.
‘I didn’t buy a lot of clothes; I’ve had these clothes probably since the nineties, so I used a shipping service. I don’t want to say the name, but it rhymes with bread x.
‘So on September 26, that box left upstate New York, and it went straight to Memphis, and from Memphis it went to France, and by September 28th it had arrived in Germany.
‘On September 29, they shipped it straight to Israel, not Ireland, Israel. On October 3, it went back from Israel, got to France, and on October 4 it went back to Israel.

‘On October 5, it went from Israel to Germany, then on October 6 it went back to Israel, not to Ireland, back to Israel.
‘But on October 10, that box of old clothes made its way all the way to France, and on October 11, it arrived in the UK, in England.
‘Pretty close! Guess what? On October 11, it left the UK and went straight to Ireland, where it has been sitting for five days, and they say they are unable to deliver it.
‘I don’t understand why; it’s just sitting there. I can’t get a person on the phone. I have not been able to talk to anybody.’
Kevin continued: ‘I know what you’re thinking: just go buy some more clothes, and you’re right, I could buy some clothes, but I want these clothes. I’ve had them since the nineties.
‘They have a certain sentimental value: old boots, old jeans, old hats – any suggestions? Am I ever going to see this stuff? It’s starting to get cold here.’
Inevitably, the Irish public had plenty to say on the matter, including Amy Huberman.

‘I hope your mum wrote your name on the collar tags. Welcome to Ireland xx,’ she joked.
‘Justice for Kevin Bacon’s clothes; like him, they are a national treasure,’ commented someone else, while a third agreed, saying: ‘Couldn’t say it any better, let’s start a movement. Justice for Kevin!’
‘If only there was someone at FedEx that’s 10 degrees from Kevin Bacon,’ another person joked.
Writer Liz Nugent couldn’t resist asking: ‘Have you heard of Penneys?’ while someone else wrote: ‘We’ve a few bits in the attic if you’re stuck, Kevin.’
‘Come on, Ireland, we can do this!’ insisted someone else.
