Saoirse-Monica Jackson has paid homage to the late great Dolly Parton in a way that would make her Derry Girls character, Erin Quinn, proud.

While the actress has long pointed out the differences between herself and her on-screen character (accent aside, of course), their love of Dolly Parton appears to unite the pair.

Saoirse-Monica and her mum, Ruth, appear to be Dolly Parton superfans. Just a week after the country singer passed away, the ladies made a trip to Tennessee to visit her theme park, Dollywood.

The mum and daughter duo made the most of their trip to Dolly’s hometown in the Smoky Mountains, even recreating the hitmaker’s signature ‘big hair’.

Saoirse-Monica shared a mirror selfie with her mum from their hotel room with the hit song Coat of Many Colours playing over.

‘Dollywood here we come,’ she penned as the ladies beamed. A second snap saw the ladies pose with Dolly-style hair, travelling through the Great Smoky Mountains.

The visit comes after a meme of Saoirse-Monica’s famous character and her on-screen mum, Ma Mary (Tara Lynne O’Neill) began circulating on social media.

After Dolly’s death was announced last Tuesday by her nephew Bryan Seaver, devastated fans pointed out that Mary and Erin would have been heartbroken by the news.

A video of the pair arguing on the show leads Mary to tell her daughter to ‘swear on Dolly’ instead of a religious figure. She points to a framed picture of Dolly Parton hanging on the wall.

It appears Saoirse-Monica Jackson and her real mum, Ruth, were just as Dolly-obsessed. Life really does imitate art!
