The Traitors winner Rachel Duffy has recalled navigating the ‘hardest moment of my life’ after losing her beloved mum, Anne.
There’s no good time to lose a parent, but Rachel found it particularly tough as she had been riding the high of winning half of The Traitors’ £47k prize pot.
Anne, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when she was just 47 and in her last few years, with dementia, passed away days after Rachel’s TV win.

Rachel said: ‘The timing [of my mother’s death] was tough. I’d just won the show, then she passed away. I couldn’t even celebrate with her.
‘I felt like the whole world knew my business, and that was hard because at the same time I was trying to navigate one of the most difficult moments of my life. But the support was phenomenal.’
Rachel explained that she remains strong as she reminds herself how much Anne would love her daughter’s new life in the spotlight.

Anne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 47, just four years older than Rachel is now, which has changed her outlook on life.
‘You don’t know what’s coming round the corner. If you have a positive mindset, try to be healthy and enjoy life, that’s all you can do,’ Rachel continued to say to OK! Magazine.
On The Traitors, Rachel revealed that her plan was to spend the prize money making memories with her mum, and shared her hope to take her on a holiday.

Anne had been so excited about Rachel’s stint on TV, and on January 5, she shared a photo of her mum holding up a T-shirt which read: ‘My daughter’s a Traitor’.
‘”Don’t get caught!”,’ Rachel wrote at the time. ‘Words of wisdom from my wee mummy Anne, who is not only my motivation on The Traitors but my inspiration in real life.
‘Mummy was just 47 when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s (four years older than I am now) and now faces dementia, but still amazes me and my family every single day.’

‘Everything she has done for me and my four siblings is nothing short of incredible,’ Rachel continued at the time.
‘Sharing caring responsibilities over the years for her has been a privilege, and we are so proud to call her our mum. She wanted to show off her T-shirt — so say hi and be kind or I might just murder you.’
