WLR joined radio stations across Ireland on Thursday September 24th, for a special day of broadcasting celebrating genres, inclusion and the many different voices that make up our communities.

One Day, Many Voices

One Day, Many Voices saw 23 independent radio stations around the country, place people and experiences that may not always be heard on the airwaves at the heart of their programming.

The national initiative has been developed by Learning Waves and is supported through Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound & Vision scheme, with funding from the Television Licence Fee.

Here on WLR, we showcased voices from across the county throughout the day — giving people the opportunity to tell their own stories, in their own words, their own voices.

We heard from the Waterford Age Friendly , CBS Mt Sion School of Sanctuary and members of the local Argentinian community. Each group in turn offering so much to Waterford.

WLR is just one of many radio stations that took part nationally. WLR describes the initiative as a celebration of radio’s ability to connect communities across county Waterford and beyond.
