Maia Dunphy has hit out at criticism she is deleting people’s comments on a recent social media post she has shared.

The TV presenter caused a stir over the weekend when she shared a picture of herself and her son, Tom, alongside An Taoiseach Micheál Martin.

The picture was taken at Bord Bia Bloom, which took place from Thursday, May 28 to June 1, at the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

Maia also shared a sweet snap of Mr Martin speaking to Tom, as well as a snap of herself and Tom with two Minions.

‘Sure we have to put meeting the Taoiseach at @bordbiabloom on the grid!’ Maia said, alongside the snaps.

‘And the Minions (but not his minions apparently). Last day of Bloom today, the sun may not be shining as much, but it’s a great day out.

‘Just don’t drink 5 beers and buy a massive garden swing seat when you only have a tiny balcony.’

Social media users took to the comments, with one writing: ‘Looks like you all had a great time at Bloom x.’

Another joked: ‘I like the third one with the Taoiseach but who’s the guy in the first 2?’

On Monday evening, Maia shared the post to her Instagram Story in response to accusations that she was deleting comments on the post.

‘To the people accusing me of deleting comments on this post,’ she began, ‘My page, my choice.

‘Irrespective of politics, my son was pleased to meet the Taoiseach at a family event and we took a photo. End of.’

Maia will appear in the next episode of RTE One’s Museum of Me next weekend.

The new show, hosted by Dermot Whelan, sees well-known Irish faces taking the presenter through an exhibition of their personal items, which paints a picture of their life.

A clip shared to the RTÉ One social media page, sees Maia showing off her Women of the Year for Entertainment from Irish Tatler.

‘The day after I won this, I found out I was pregnant,’ Maia shared, ‘It changed everything.’
