We’ll just side-step The Immortal Man… A new era of Peaky Blinders is upon us, lads and lassies!
Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton leads the charge as Charles Shelby in the next generation of the beloved franchise. The new series has been written and created by Steven Knight, so we have some faith that it’s going to be a success.
It’s been confirmed that Irish actors Conleth Hill, of Game of Thrones fame, and Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty) have joined the spin-off series.

Last month, the BBC released a first-look image of Charlie, and dare we say that he’s nailed the smoulder? The Stranger Things actor is seen sporting baby blues in the first-look image, which isn’t his natural eye colour, but he rocks it nonetheless.
He’s wearing a deep red patterned tie, a white shirt, and an overcoat. His hard-to-read expression tells us nothing; Is he despondent, or does he possess an unyielding determination?
Despite bearing a killer American accent as Jonathan Byers in Stranger Things, did you know that Charlie was actually born and raised in Leeds!?

Peaky Blinders is currently being filmed in Birmingham. It’s produced by Banjay UK companies Kudos (House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders S1-6, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man) for the BBC and Netflix.
We’re all well aware that Barry Keoghan took on the role of Duke Shelby, the illegitimate first son of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), in the film, but Jamie Bell, of All of Us Strangers and Rocketman fame, is set to replace him in the role for the new series.

The series’ official synopsis reads: ‘Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality. He hasn’t seen his half-brother Duke in years.
‘Charles severed all ties to the Peaky Blinders gang and the hedonistic Shelby lifestyle. But can you ever escape your own blood?
‘In this new era of Peaky Blinders, set a decade after World War II, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.’

Also starring in Peaky Blinders are Jessica Brown Findlay, who plays Sybil Crawley in Downton Abbey, Lashana Lynch, known for her work in the MCU and James Bond universe, and Lucy Karczewski in her TV debut.
The two new seasons, each comprising six hour-long episodes, will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One, and on Netflix at a later date, TBC.
