Fontaines D.C. are having their moment in the sun after announcing history-making gigs at Slane Castle, but what is frontman Grian Chatten’s life like away from the spotlight?

The Skerries-born singer is fresh off the band’s once-in-a-lifetime Electric Picnic closing set, where his longtime love likely stood supporting side stage.

So, what is the rockstar’s life behind closed doors, with his finacée, Georgie Jesson?

Working together

Grian Chatten was destined to be a singer, having written his first song when he was just nine years old, about a dream he had where he stole something from a shop and ran away.

However, did you know the lady in his life also has a musical background? Despite attempts to keep their relationship as private as possible, Grian and Georgie have actually worked together in the past.

She sang backing vocals for Grian on his first solo album, Chaos For the Fly. The talented singer also works closely with Limerick-based band Theatre.

Georgie has a hand in managing Black Nylon, who also performed at Electric Picnic, and singer MAY.

If that didn’t sound like she has a lot on her plate, Georgie also works as a poet and has launched her debut collection in the form of a book called ‘soft spot for a junkie’.

Grian clearly isn’t the only one with famous connections, as Georgie’s work has been reviewed by some pretty heavy hitters.

Nick Cave dubbed Georgie’s work: ‘Grief remembered, reassembled, made beautiful by a genuine poetic talent. Sad and amazing.’

Meanwhile, Amelia Dimoldenberg said: ‘Beautiful and heartbreaking – Georgie’s musings on life, love and loss feel electric – a gorgeous collection that should be held tight by all who read it.’

Simone Rocha added: ‘A beautiful, brilliant thing. Tender and touching, raw and unflinching.’

The couple are big fans of the designer’s work, having appeared at her show, alongside heavy hitters like Alexa Chung.

And Grian is very supportive of his fiancée’s work, even writing the foreword for the book.

Getting engaged

The couple hardly ever speak about each other, though Georgie regularly shares snaps together on social media.

While Grian has never publicly revealed when he popped the question, she is described as his fiancée in an interview with The Irish Times in 2023.

Georgie shared her first social media post a year before, in January 2022. Grian made it into her first snap, with the couple posing together at a festival.

The couple has certainly been together long before Fontaines D.C. reached mainstream success. We can’t help but wonder which songs were written about Georgie!
