Maura Higgins had Ireland well represented on Tuesday evening as the Cannes Film Festival got underway.
The 79th edition of the French festival opened on Tuesday (May 12), and will run until Saturday, May 23.
Some 22 films are fighting for the prestigious Palme d’Or Prize for Best Film.

There’s also Irish representation on this year’s competition with Ruth Negga among then nine-person jury.
The jury is led by South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook, and also includes Demi Moore, Stellan Skarsgård, Laura Wandel, Dierog Céspedes, Isaach De Bankolé, Paul LAverty and Hamnet director Chloe Zhaó.

Set in 1920s Paris, the film follows a young painter, Antoine, as he navigates the death of his wife.
Grief results in Antoine losing his motivation to paint. Antoine soon after attempts to contact his late wife via a psychic.
Among the stars taking to the red carpet on Tuesday evening was our very own Maura Higgins.

The former Love Island star stunned in a strapless black dress, which had a white band across at the top.
The dress also featured puffy arm detailing and a long train, with Maura wearing her hair in a wavy bob for the event.
Former Love/Hate star Ruth Negga posed alongside her fellow jurors, dressed in an extravagant white suit set for the photocall.

Taking to the red carpet, Ruth donned a stunning sparkly green slinky dress.
Among those taking to the red carpet on Tuesday evening included Jane Fonda, James Franco and Heidi Klum.
As the festival progresses other Irish stars are accepted to descend onto the carpet including Barry Keoghan.
