Retired RTE star Mary Kennedy has opened up about finding love after splitting with her longtime boyfriend.

The former Nationwide host had been in a relationship with her partner, Tom, since late 2019. The RTÉ television presenter was introduced to him by mutual friends following her 2005 split from ex-husband Ronan Foster.

Last year, Mary revealed that she and Tom had split but the star said she has ‘lots of love’ around her since.

She told EVOKE: ‘I don’t have a love life. Well, I have a very good love life, but no, I don’t.’

Asked if she would like to find love again, she replied: ‘I have lots of love, to be honest. I’m loving the freedom that like I’ve just told you about all the places I’m traveling to.’

The Dubliner has been busy travelling the world with pal Eileen Dunne, who also retired from RTE in 2022 after 42 years.

Mary retired from RTÉ six years ago when she turned 65, but now aged 71 she is still busy working in broadcasting.

‘Myself and Eileen Dunne always had on our bucket list to go to Marrakech to visit the Yves Saint Laurent Gardens, so we finally got there this spring. I’ve been to Paris. I’m going to Spain on Monday on a wellness retreat, which I’m kind of leading, and the Camino then in July.

‘We’ve done some filming as well with Moving West… and we’re about to embark on some more podcasts. We’ve three done, and we’ve about six more to do.’

Mary, who attended Saturday night’s VIP Style Awards in Dublin, said jokingly that men ‘aren’t queuing around the corner’, so she has been enjoying her time doing what she loves.

‘I love my garden. I love having people around for something to eat, like they’re not exactly queuing around the corner, but that’s okay.’

The presenter also revealed she is writing a book about ageing, which is due out in October.

Mary will be drawing on her own experience of aging, as well as interviewing several key figures in Irish society.

‘I’ve done some interviews with people as well…I’ve interviewed Mary McAleese and Noel Cunningham.’
