Barry Keoghan has revealed that he underwent cosmetic treatment after fans speculated about his change in appearance.

The procedure, which has also been used by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Naomi Watts, is said to cost over €5,000.

Barry shared that he turned to a high-tech skin-tightening treatment called XERF, which is designed to ‘lift and firm the face’ without surgery or injections.

The practitioner moved a handheld device across his cheeks, around his nose and along his jawline in the clip.

Barry said: ‘I’ve been hearing a lot about it and Nilam is very excited about it. And she’s brilliant at what she does. I really mean that.

‘Every time I come in, it’s very relaxing and therapeutic. Nilam looks after my skin. I feel better about myself. I look better. I think it’s important to look after yourself inside and outside.’

The treatment was originally developed in South Korea and has been used by several Hollywood stars.

It uses controlled bursts of radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the face.

This makes the body produce collagen, the natural protein that keeps skin firm.

It aims to tighten loose skin, sharpen the jawline and create a more youthful appearance.

Unlike a facelift, the treatment doesn’t involve any cuts, needles or anaesthetic, with patients generally able to return to their normal activities immediately afterwards.

Each appointment takes around 90 minutes, with Holmes’ clinic saying that the results can last between 12 and 18 months.

Barry said that he has undergone two sessions, which cost over €5,000.

Fans had previously speculated that the actor had undergone cosmetic work on his face after he stepped onto a red carpet, where his lips and cheeks appeared fuller.

Barry has never publicly confirmed having fillers, while this new treatment that he is having does not include injecting anything into his face.

In March, he opened up about abuse he had received over his appearance on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up.

Barry said: ‘There’s a lot of abuse of how I look. It’s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.

‘When that starts leaking into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen anymore.’
