Comedian Pat Shortt has opened up about his talented drummer son in a rare chat about his other children.

The Killinaskully star is a dad to fellow comic Faye, daughter Lily Rose and youngest son, Lughaidh.

And while Faye is firmly following in her famous dad’s footsteps, Pat admitted there is another superstar hiding in the family in the form of his son, Lughaidh.

Speaking to Claire Byrne on her podcast, Never Have I Ever, he said: ‘My daughter Faye has been working with me for the last couple of years, and that’s a wonderful place to be, traveling and getting up on stage with your daughter. And we’ve travelled all over.

‘To a degree, you have to be professional, and we’re both cast and actors on stage, and that’s why it works because we do do that.

‘Maybe when we get back to the hotel, that daughter creeps back in. She tells me to go to bed and watch what you’re eating. But no, it does. It has to be like that.

‘We also work with a team of sound guys and everything else as well. So it’s not just the two of us. And when we get to another theater, we’re working with the people in that venue as well.’

As for his other two children, Pat went on to praise them both and reveal that Lughaidh has also inherited a performing talent.

He said: ‘I get on great with all my kids, thankfully. Lily Rose, who’s the middle girl, and then Lughaidh is the boy, the youngest.

‘He’s a great drummer, and he’s a guy that is definitely built for this business. Lily is not. She’s working in marketing in Dublin. But they’re all grown up. They’re all in their 20s now, which is great.’

Pat shares his three children with his wife, Caroline, and the couple has been together for many years after meeting when she was in college.

He told RSVP: ‘I met her when I was at art college; she was studying fashion. We went out with each other while she was at art college and I was off gigging, running around the country with Jon Kenny in the van.’
