Harry Styles and Niall Horan have paid emotional tributes to their late bandmate, Liam Payne.
Niall, Harry, Liam, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson were all part of One Direction, one of the biggest boybands in the world after they auditioned separately for the X Factor.
The band went on their extended hiatus in 2015, and embarked on solo careers. Liam later fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina in October 2024.

Harry and Niall are currently on respective tours — with Harry performing his Madison Square Garden residency as part of his Together, Together tour, while Niall is in Amsterdam on his Dinner Party tour — and both bandmates paid an emotional tribute to their late friend on the anniversary of his passing.
Speaking at MSG, Harry spoke about the death of Liam, before debuting a new song, saying: ‘There are so many people in my life, friends and people that I’ve worked with, that I wouldn’t have been able to do this without.
‘Two years ago today, I lost one of those friends,’ Harry continued. ‘I’m sure a lot of you have been through similar things — I hope you haven’t — but, really, it’s just about looking after each other. There are so many people [that are] more than my name that’s on that banner, there are so many people behind it. So many people who have touched my life in so many ways.’

Harry revealed that he had written a song about Liam following his death, saying: ‘I’m going to play this song I wrote about two years ago, and then we’ll get on with it. This is What Is Enough.’
Meanwhile, in Amsterdam, Niall paid an emotional tribute to his former bandmate via his song End of an Era, which he had written in memory of Liam for his fourth album.
Toward the end of the song, a clip from Liam in an interview played over the speakers at the Ziggo Dome, leading to thunderous applause.

Speaking earlier this year, Niall spoke about the last time he saw Liam, saying that he saw his bandmate just weeks before his tragic death.
‘It means my last memory of him was happy,’ he said. ‘It still feels surreal. On day one, I was, like, “Nah, it didn’t happen.” Our friendship was a bond that was there forever, even if we hadn’t seen each other for a while, and it’s wild that one day, like the flick of a switch, he’s gone.
Niall added that he has a complicated emotional response whenever he thinks of Liam now, adding to the Times: ‘When I think about it there’s sadness,’ he said, ‘but it also makes me laugh and smirk because of the memories we had.’
