The funeral arrangements of The First Lady of Celtic Music Moya Brennan have been revealed following her death at 73 years old.
The Irish singer and musician died on Monday, April 13, with a statement from her family confirming the sad news.
Moya hailed from a strong musical family, and in 1970 joined forces with two of her brothers, Pól and Ciarán, and two of her uncles, Noel and Pádraig, to form Clannad.
Throughout her years active, she recorded up to 25 albums, and also frequently appeared on The Late Late Show.
Former presenter of the Friday night chat show, Ryan Tubridy, paid tribute, taking to Instagram detailing his sadness.
‘Iconic, important, imitable, she was such warm company on stage and off,’ the presenter shared, ‘Her otherworldly sound, ethereal voice and kind eyes will be missed.’
Fellow Irish singer Una Healy also paid tribute, writing on Facebook that she was ‘deeply saddened.’
‘I had the great pleasure of meeting and singing with Moya on a number of occasions, along with her daughter Aisling and with the Irish Women in Harmony,’ the Thurles woman said.
‘She was such a beautiful person and a legend. RIP Moya. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.’
Daniel O’Donnell, who also performed alongside Moya, extended condolences on behalf of himself and wife Majella.
‘A beautiful lady who will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her,’ the Donegal crooner said.
‘We send our sincere sympathy to her husband Tim, daughter Aisling, son Paul, her mother Baba and all the extended family at this very sad time.’
A statement from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin also expressed his own deep sadness at the passing of ‘an iconic Irish voice.’
The Fianna Fáil leader said: ‘Along with her Clannad bandmates, Moya brought Irish folk music to the international stage.
‘Deepest sympathies to Moya’s family and friends at this difficult time.’
On Tuesday, EVOKE shared the final photo of Moya Brennan and her notoriously private singer sister, Enya.
It comes as funeral details for the late singer were revealed, with Moya being laid to rest this Friday, April 17 at 2pm in St Patrick’s Church, Meenaweal, Crolly, with interment afterwards in Magheragallon Cemetery Gweedore.
Prior to that, the late singer will repose at her home on Wednesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 16 from 1pm to 8pm with nightly prayers at 8pm.
Moya is survived by her husband Tim Jarvis, daughter Aisling, son Paul, granddaughter Eden and mum Máire, along with sisters Deirdre, Enya, Olive, Brídín and brothers Ciarán, Pól and Bartley.
