Lisa Kudrow revealed the one fan request that she will always refuse during a recent interview, as she reflected on the success of the sitcom Friends.

The 63-year-old, who starred as Phoebe Buffay on the iconic sitcom, appeared on Fresh Air with Terry Gross and Tonya Mosley this week.

While remarking that she has ‘zero complaints about Friends or anything to do with it’, Lisa admitted that she has one fan-related ‘exception’.

Lisa said she typically doesn’t mind fans asking her to say one of Phoebe’s iconic lines or to be called by the character’s name, though one memorable moment from the show is something she won’t repeat.

The actress revealed that she doesn’t like being asked to sing the catchy, recurring song Smelly Cat.

Lisa said: ‘Sometimes people will stop me and say, “Oh, sing Smelly Cat”. I don’t want to do that. I really don’t want to do that.’

She went on to tell the hosts elsewhere in the interview how much she enjoyed making ‘every part’ of Friends and the bonds she developed with her co-stars.

Lisa remarked: ‘Just the relationship with the other actors, we had fun. That is so rare. And real honest respect, mutual respect.’

She added that the stars ‘made sure’ to get on with each other and played poker together during breaks on set.

Recently, Lisa opened up in another interview about how she had auditioned for the role of Rachel Green, which went to Jennifer Aniston, though she was told that she ‘wouldn’t work as the romantic interest’.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘Idiot that I am, I went, “Oh, but you know what? I got to say, Rachel is Jewish. And boy, I love doing a Jewish American Princess. I think I could make that really funny”.’

Lisa said that she was ‘not even clocking that, “Oh no, this is the romantic lead to Ross.” Right? I told my agents, “I can do Jewish American Princess and make that really funny”.

‘And so they said, “Uh-huh. All right. Well, we’ll tell [the show’s creators]”.’

The actress then said she was later told by casting agents that she ‘wasn’t gorgeous’ and not suited for the part.

She added: ‘They went, “No, no. It’s so hard for them to find Phoebe. They’re not messing with that”. So that was the sweet way of saying, “Yeah, you are not the romantic interest”.’
