Acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Don Mescall is back with a brand-new album, Trip Around the Sun, marking the latest chapter in a hugely successful career spanning more than two decades.
The 11-track album is Mescall’s third studio release and follows the success of Lighthouse Keeper, which reached number one on the Official Irish Independent Albums Chart in 2018.
Mescall has established himself as one of Ireland’s most respected songwriters, with his music recorded by some of the biggest names in the international music industry.
His songs have been performed by Rascal Flatts, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, Ronan Keating, Geri Halliwell and legendary American singer Richie Havens.
His songwriting catalogue has generated more than 34 million streams on Spotify and over 24 million views on YouTube.
BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Paul Gambaccini previously praised his work, saying: “Daily doses of Don Mescall as artist, as writer, or both will lead to good musical health.”
A personal collection of songs
Recorded between Mescall’s own studio at Quivvy Church in Cavan and Nashville, Tennessee, Trip Around the Sun sees the singer-songwriter return to the spotlight as a recording artist.
The album features 11 original songs exploring themes of love, loss, hope, memories and the passage of time.
Described as warm, melodic and deeply personal, the collection reflects Mescall’s gift for storytelling and his ability to connect with listeners through his music.
The title, Trip Around the Sun, reflects the journey through life and the people, places and experiences gathered along the way.
For an artist who has spent much of his career writing hits for others, the new album represents a return to his own voice and musical roots.
New album features 11 tracks
The album includes the title track Trip Around the Sun, alongside Cruel Beautiful World, Northern Star, Dearest Blue, Roof of the World and I Feel Alive.
Other tracks include I Want You, Tout Le Monde, Sunset of Gold, A Night Like This and Shipwreck.
The album is available to order through Don Mescall’s official website at www.donmescall.com.
