Hollywood A-lister Colin Farrell has admitted he is edging closer to moving back home to Ireland
The Batman star moved to Los Angeles around 2000 after he had landed his breakout American role starring in Joel Schumacher’s war drama Tigerland, which officially launched his Hollywood stardom.
But the Dubliner said that the older he is getting, the more Ireland ‘feels like it whispers for me to come back.’

Speaking to the Associated Press, the 50-year-old said: ‘I find the country that I’m from to be a very moving place. The older I get the more Ireland, it feels like it whispers for me to come back.
‘And so every time I do go home, I feel like I’m closer to making the decision to actually… You know I had to wait until both of my boys are up and out of the house and living their lives and stuff.

‘Running the streets. There was one run in particular, the night my father passed away, that I did and I literally did, I did end up, and it was not by design, running through the streets that he grew up on.’
Colin’s father, Eamon, a former Shamrock Rovers footballer, passed away in April 2025 at the age of 83.

During his funeral mass, Colin described his father as a ‘bold, unique, funny, charismatic and kind.’
Colin shared that his memories of his dad are ‘frozen in time’, recounting a touching story about feeling ‘how safe’ he felt sitting on his father’s lap as a five-year-old boy while receiving stitches on his head.

He added at the time: ‘I remember it so clearly, your arms around me, me trying to figure out the words to tell you what happened, and you looking at me with the strength of a father’s love and concern.
‘The feeling of that memory, Dad, is so vivid and more so now that you are gone.’
