Claire Byrne has become such a firm fixture on our screens and the airwaves that it’s hard to imagine her in any other role.

That said, the host has long been nurturing a secret passion that could allow fans to see her in a whole new light.

Claire has been posting a ten-part podcast series, Never Have I Ever, where she interviews people who’ve tried things she hasn’t yet.

To date, that has included a professional poker player and a panto dame, with the intention being that Claire, who is 50, will try one of the activities at the end of the series.

One career immediately stands out for the host: acting.

‘Since I’ve matured to the age that I’m at, I’ve realised that your true self is the person you were as a child.

‘I’ve made that up, I could be wrong, but I find my joy in books and in nature and in acting, actually,’ She told the Irish Times.

Claire went on to explain: ‘I used to love the school play, and the drama and all that. Absolutely loved it.

‘The nuns used to kill me for changing the script all the time. So it is possible that I could get on a stage and break out of my shell.’

On stage might mean a turn in panto if her sit-down with actor Rob Murphy is anything to go by, and she admits that with the podcast she has been ‘exposing’ herself and her fears more than she typically would.

By all accounts, Never Have I Ever has proven to be a hit and has recently been renewed for a second series.
