Bon Jovi fans have been sharing their verdict after the band’s huge Croke Park return last night, and if the reaction online is anything to go by, the band certainly left an impression.
The rock legends returned to Dublin on Sunday night for their first Croke Park show in 20 years, bringing their Forever Tour to the iconic stadium for a night packed with nostalgia, huge anthems and plenty of singalong moments.
And while there was plenty of curiosity beforehand about how Jon’s voice would hold up, particularly after his recent vocal struggles, fans leaving the stadium appeared to have very little to complain about.
From You Give Love a Bad Name and It’s My Life to the inevitable stadium-wide rendition of Livin’ on a Prayer, the crowd were firmly on board.
One fan described the night as “unreal”, while others praised the atmosphere and said it was everything they had hoped for from Bon Jovi’s long-awaited return to Dublin.
Remembering the supporting act as well, one fan wrote, ‘We had the best night; they were absolutely brilliant & the Boomtown Rats as well.’
For many they it was ‘Absolutely amazing gig, best ever ‘, with others stating that it was ‘Epic.’
The band played a 22-song set, finishing with Always after an encore that also included I’ll Be There For You, Wanted Dead Or Alive and Bad Medicine.
For many in the crowd, it was clearly one of those nights where the nostalgia was just as important as the music.
Twenty years after Bon Jovi last played Croke Park, Dublin fans finally got their chance to see them back on our shores and judging by the reaction, they were very glad they did.
