An Oscar-winning actress is said to be ‘on board’ for the next season of Netflix’s hit drama, Adolescence.

The groundbreaking four-part series hit the streaming service last year, gaining huge audiences due to its topical subject matter.

Starring Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham, the TV show tells of how a family’s world is turned upside down when the son, 13-year-old Jamie Miller, is arrested for the murder of a female classmate.

Each episode is shot in a single take, depicting the story in real time for viewers.

The TV show and its cast swept awards season, winning eight gongs at the Emmy Awards in September.

Among the accolades were Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series; Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Earlier this year, star and executive producer Stephen Graham teased a follow-up season, confirming himself and writer Jack Thorne would ‘pull it out in three or four years.’

Now, it has been revealed that Titanic star Kate Winslet is ‘on board ‘, much to huge excitement.

The Daily Mail reported that the second series was ‘happening and in development ‘, adding that there was ‘excitement that Kate’s on board.’

The publication noted that Winslet has her own acting experience in the genre having starred in Channel 4’s I Am Ruth in 2022.

The TV movie saw Winslet as mother-of-three Ruth, whose daughter has become depressed due to social media.

Last year, Owen Cooper made Emmys history by becoming the youngest ever male winner at the 2025 ceremony.

The youngster picked up the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of schoolboy Jamie Miller.

Following his win, the up-and-coming actor revealed the one place he wouldn’t be taking his Emmy award.

When asked if he would be showing it off to his classmates, he replied: ‘This will get robbed in my school. No chance. I am definitely not taking it to school. No, no, no.’
