The winners of the second series of The Traitors Ireland have been revealed after a stunning finale at Slane Castle.

Anna, a 27-year-old postal worker from Dublin, and Diego, a 40-year-old physician associate from Cork, came out on top after the final two Traitors, Carla and Pauric O’Meara, were banished in dramatic fashion.

A dramatic endgame

The result came down to a nerve-shredding finish, with Diego eventually wielding a dagger during the final Round Table after the vote was stuck in a deadlock with both Anna and Carla on the chopping block.

Anna and Diego went on to reveal that they had both been Faithfuls all along, having banished Pauric O at the Fire Pit to secure the €45,850 prize pot between them. The pair each walk away with €22,925.

The secret in plain sight

For Diego, the win capped an especially emotional journey. He had entered the competition alongside his husband Denis, with the couple keeping their 11-year marriage a secret from the rest of the players.

Denis was murdered by the Traitors earlier in the run, leaving Diego to go on alone, making his victory all the sweeter.

How the series played out

The second series began on August 30, with 23 players arriving at Slane Castle, and unfolded across 12 episodes on RTE One and the RTE Player.

At the end, it had very much looked like Pauric and Diego would vote Anna out – leaving Pauric with a solo victory as a traitor. However, he seemingly gave the game away by backing Carla so stubbornly (and perhaps loyally) at the final roundtable.

There is good news for fans already mourning its return, too, with RTE confirming that The Traitors Ireland will be back for a third season.

Viewers react

Reacting to the finale on X, viewers couldn’t help but laud one man for coming up with a late, late winner for the faithful.
