Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information on the murder of Daniel Aruebose, as the first anniversary of the investigation nears.

Daniel, who would now be eight years old, is believed to have died in 2021. He was buried in an unmarked grave in a waste ground outside of Donabate in Dublin.

Concerns were raised for Daniel’s wellbeing in 2025, and a missing persons report was filed. Tragically, his remains were found in 2025. Swords Garda station, Gardaí’s Crime East DMR North Division, Divisional Search Team, Divisional Scenes of Crime Team, Uniformed and Community Policing units have all assisted in the investigation into his death.

In an appeal on the first anniversary of their murder enquiry, Gardaí say that they are still investigating all of the circumstances surrounding Daniel’s death, and are continuing a homicide investigation.

The investigation has seen ongoing collaboration across multiple domestic and international jurisdictions, including law enforcement authorities in the USA, Brazil, France and the UK, as well as the Australian Federal Police, Portuguese Judicial Police, Interpol, and the United Arab Emirates Embassy.

Gardaí have also co-ordinated with the PSNI in Northern Ireland, the Director of Public Prosecutions, and the central channels for Mutual Legal Assistance to gather critical evidence and facilitate international legal requests.
