Despite playing some of his best football this season, it looks like Real Madrid fans want Kylian Mbappe out of the club.

It’s been a tumultuous season for the Galaticos, after the ill-fated hiring of Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa’s less-than-ideal new-manager bounce.

Alonso came in to much fanfare after winning the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal with Bayer Leverkusen in thrilling fashion. But his 3-4-3 formation never went down well with the players, and he barely made it to the new year before being sacked.

Since then, Arbeloa has tried to steady the ship, but his spell has seen Madrid fall to 11 points behind Barcelona, get knocked out of the Copa del Rey by second-tier Albacete and lose to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

However, despite all the turmoil, Kylian Mbappe has been unstoppable. The Frenchman has bagged 41 goals and registered six assists from his 41 appearances so far this season as he’s truly imprinting his legacy in the Bernabeu.

Since joining Madrid in 2024, Mbappe has scored 85 goals in 100 appearances in all competitions. However, with no trophies to boast of this season, on top of several off-the-pitch issues, Madrid fans are calling for his head.

Why are fans calling for Kylian Mbappé to leave?

Marca recently released a report where they revealed Mbappe’s teammates at Real Madrid have grown tired of the superstar’s antics.

He’s reportedly ‘grown apart from the team’ due to his attitude towards staff at Madrid and the perpetual Mbappé vs Vinicius debate, of which most teammates reportedly side with Vinicius despite Mbappé’s form.

Then there’s the injuries. Mbappé has missed around a dozen games this year, all mainly due to a persistent knee injury as well as a recent hamstring issue. However, fans have been less than impressed with Mbappe’s trips to Paris and Italy while he’s been out.

Mbappe’s team did respond to the trips, saying the report is ‘based on an overinterpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly supervised by the club’ while defending his commitment to the club.

The Athletic have also released a report on the off-field tensions at Madrid, in which they revealed that Mbappe insulted a coach during a training groud bust-up, as well as having a row with teammate Antonio Rudiger. These reports appear to have been the final straw for many Madrid fans, and they’ve taken action.

Over one million fans have now signed a petition to get Mbappe out, with the message being very clear: ‘Madridistas, make your voice heard. If you believe change is needed, don’t stay silent — sign this petition and stand for what you think is best for the club’s future.

Fans online have also listed several reasons behind them calling for Mbappe’s departure. This includes Madrid’s better form without him; they’ve had a five-game winning streak while he was injured, only to win 1 in 6 once he returned. Then, when he got injured again last weekend, Vinicius scored twice in a 2-0 win over Espanyol.

Now, anyone is free to sign this petition, and it’s unlikely that anyone at the club will even take note of this, but nearly 1million people calling for Mbappe’s exit is certainly alarming.

Even if he was to be sold, it would take an astronomical fee and wages to pry the Frenchman away, given the fact that he reportedly earns over €600,000 a week

There truly is no other club like Real Madrid, is there?
