Waterford’s Jack Kent has been crowned the new European Junior Show Jumping Champion after a remarkable performance at the 2026 European Youth Show Jumping Championships in Hagen, Germany.

Kent and his 12-year-old gelding Ollie van de Klotputten produced two clear rounds in the final to climb from fifth place overnight and claim the gold medal with a score of 2.33.

The victory adds another major European title to Kent’s impressive record, coming two years after he won individual gold at the Pony European Championships in Opglabbeek in the Netherlands.

Ireland secured a hat-trick of medals at the championships.

Tipperary’s Tom Wachman claimed individual silver in the Young Rider Under-21 final, while Ireland also won team silver in the Young Rider competition.

A superb weekend for Irish show jumping — and a landmark achievement for Waterford’s Jack Kent, who is now a double European Champion.
