Waterford have been dealt a major setback ahead of their All-Ireland quarter-final against Kilkenny, with key forward Niamh Rockett ruled out after losing her appeal against a red card picked up in their defeat to Cork.

The decision confirms a three-match suspension for the current All-Star, meaning she will play no part in Saturday’s clash at Croke Park and could miss the remainder of Waterford’s championship campaign depending on results.

It’s a significant blow for the Déise as they prepare for one of the standout ties of the weekend in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship. Waterford now face neighbours Kilkenny without one of their most influential attacking threats, forcing a reshuffle ahead of a high-stakes knockout match.

Kilkenny will provide stern opposition, as always, in this all-Leinster and Munster rivalry encounter, with both sides targeting a semi-final place and a step closer to All-Ireland glory.

The quarter-final throws in at 1 pm on Saturday at Croke Park, where Waterford must now attempt to overcome the loss of Rockett and find scoring power from elsewhere if they are to advance
