Waterford FC will look to continue their impressive recent run of form when they welcome Shelbourne to the RSC this afternoon.

The Blues head into the game full of confidence after putting together a five-match unbeaten run under manager Graham Coughlan, with victories away to Dundalk and Derry City, as well as a recent clean sheet against Galway United.

Former Waterford striker Vinnie Sullivan believes supporters who have yet to experience a League of Ireland match at the RSC should make the trip on Sunday.

“The matchday experience has gone up another level altogether,” Sullivan said, praising the condition of the pitch, the fan zone and the atmosphere created by the D-Block supporters. He added that there is “no bad seat in the ground” and described the RSC as one of the best venues in the League of Ireland.

Sullivan also highlighted the growing support for Waterford FC across the county, saying the club has become “an all-county thing” with fans travelling from well beyond the city to back the Blues.

On the pitch, Sullivan believes Coughlan’s organisation and ability to grind out results have transformed Waterford’s season.

The former striker pointed to strong defensive partnerships, the goalscoring threat of Tommy Lonergan and Padraig Amond, and a renewed belief throughout the squad as key factors behind the recent upturn in form.

Waterford currently sit second from bottom in the Premier Division but have moved ahead of Sligo Rovers and are closing the gap on the teams above them. Sullivan believes today’s clash with Shelbourne represents another opportunity to build momentum, particularly with the visitors balancing European commitments after a busy week.

Kick-off at the RSC is at 3 pm, with the Blues aiming to take another significant step in their battle to climb the Premier Division table.
